Day 1 is in the books - we had a very smooth and uneventful drive to Palm Springs. We split the driving and Olga handled the Expedition very well. We didn't get out of the area until about 11:30 am as I put in an offer on a house and had to sign the papers - more about that another time. Once on the road, we were excited for what adventures lay ahead. At Bakersfield, we made the decision to go around LA into Palm Springs, rather than thru the desert. We didn't have much traffic until we got to Arcadia - a bit east of Pasadena. Thank goodness for carpool lanes as we were able to bypass a lot of the traffic. We passed the staging area for the fire fighting trucks and equipment. The area was very smoky from the Station Fire but we didn't see any of the actual fire. We rolled into Palm Springs about 8:30 pm and it's HOT. We spent an hour in the pool cooling off - as much as you can in warm water. Tomorrow we spend the day sightseeing and enjoying Village Fest in the evening - stay tuned.
